Session Description

Thinking Like a System Steward

Tuesday, November 17, 2026

3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Farm Credit directors make decisions on behalf of their institution, but those decisions also exist within a larger System. This session explores what it means to balance local responsibilities with broader System stewardship and why understanding the interconnected nature of the Farm Credit System matters for every director.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  1. Explain how individual Farm Credit institutions operate within and contribute to the broader Farm Credit System.
  2. Evaluate governance decisions through both an institutional and System-wide perspective, recognizing the potential implications for stakeholders beyond their own organization.
  3. Apply principles of System stewardship to board discussions and decision-making while maintaining accountability to their institution’s mission, responsibilities, and stakeholders.
