Compliance Considerations in Marketing to Consumers

What rules apply to marketing and promotions of home mortgage lending products? What is a “thing of value” and why is that important? What interaction with real estate agents is okay and what is not? This session will explore Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) Section 8 prohibitions against kickbacks for business referrals involving a federally related mortgage loan and exceptions for lenders with a review of recent CFPB actions and examples of proper approaches for marketing initiatives. Compliance attorney Jennifer Dozier will navigate the highs and lows of rules and practices for your team to stay out of trouble and on the right track to reach potential customers and partner with real estate professionals.
