Biography

Matthew joined CoBank in 2016 and currently serves as the Director of Internal Audit. In this role, he leads SOX compliance, risk assessment design and execution, and the execution of the annual operational audit plan, while shaping CoBank’s long-term audit strategy. Matthew began his career in EY’s assurance practice, specializing in integrated and financial statement audits. Today, he ensures SOX alignment across the Farm Credit System and serves as a member of the Farm Credit System ICFR Workgroup.

Matthew has spearheaded the transformation of ICFR/SOX programs by transitioning traditional workflows into more agile, tech-enabled functions. He facilitates the roadmap for how Internal Audit serves as a strategic partner during enterprise-wide technology implementations, ensuring risk is mitigated without stifling innovation.

A proud alumnus of New Mexico State University, he is a Certified Public Accountant and an active member of the Institute of Internal Auditors. Matthew’s expertise is complemented by his deep personal roots in the agricultural industry, and he takes great pride in serving and protecting the Farm Credit mission.
