#1D-RISK: AI Without the Hype: Value Driven Use Cases Every Risk Team Can Apply
• Ugur has advised senior executives and public policy leaders at some of the largest banks, US agencies, GSEs including Farm Credit, multilateral development banks, regulators, private equity firms, asset managers, (re)insurers, crypto-native firms to tackle strategic, technical, operational, transformational, and organizational challenges
• In addition to project work, he has made significant contributions to industry discussions in risk management and analytical modeling. His most cited paper, “Reconcilable Differences,” has been incorporated into Basel II, III, and IV, and is widely regarded as a breakthrough concept in credit risk measurement
• Ugur recently led an industry report titled “ Potential Uses of AI in Federal Credit” exploring applications of predictive, generative, and agentic AI to improve efficiency, risk assessment, portfolio monitoring, and fraud mitigation in lending. This report was supported by contributions by Federal Credit Working Group members
• A PhD from Princeton University, he taught applied mathematics and engineering before joining Oliver Wyman
