Biography

Joel Wipperfurth likes to remind people that farmers don’t choose their hours — their hours choose them. As Director for Upstream and Downstream Sales at Truterra, the sustainability business of Land O’Lakes, Wipperfurth works alongside those farmers and retailers to help them prepare for, identify and take advantage of opportunities that benefit their farm and rural communities. An agronomist by training, Wipperfurth has held a variety of roles within both the cooperative ag retail sector and the Land O’Lakes crop inputs distribution business, Winfield United. His leadership has been instrumental in the development of industry-leading imagery, crop modeling and data systems that have empowered ag retailers to help their farmer-customers improve their agronomic, economic and environmental outcomes. In addition to helping connect farmers, ag retailers and food companies through Truterra, Wipperfurth is a farmer himself, raising cows, chickens, pigs and bees with his wife and three children on their central Minnesota farm.
