FCCS Announces 2024 Accelerator of the Year

FCCS is pleased to announce Horizon Farm Credit’s Tom Truitt as the 2024 FCCS Accelerator of the Year, a national award that recognizes leaders who have been instrumental in advancing their organizations, accelerating change and fostering growth.

Tom is CEO of Horizon Farm Credit, formed three years ago through a merger between AgChoice Farm Credit and MidAtlantic Farm Credit. Tom was nominated for the Accelerator of the Year Award in recognition of the numerous initiatives he’s established to drive Horizon Farm Credit toward continued success. Citing his inspirational leadership, these initiatives range from data and digital strategies to employee communications, to risk and facilities management. Tom’s nomination was supported by letters of recommendation from Horizon Farm Credit’s board chair and a fellow Farm Credit CEO.

“This award really recognizes the entire Horizon Farm Credit team, who have responded enthusiastically to the changes our merger has brought and who are embracing our new initiatives with an eye to always deliver exceptional service and solutions for our customers,” says Tom. “Change is hard, especially when you’re enjoying success, but our board recognized the need for innovation and gave us a mandate to rethink how we do things that our employees have adopted wholeheartedly. I’m honored to be the representative who accepts this award on their behalf.”

Raised on a family farm, Tom joined Farm Credit in 1993 and grew his career into senior leadership roles by 2000. He served as CEO of MidAtlantic Farm Credit for seven years prior to the merger, and as COO before that.

“Continuing to succeed in a dynamic and uncertain market means being resilient and adaptable to change. Tom’s leadership in establishing a fresh, powerful foundation for innovation and enhanced support for Horizon Farm Credit’s customers is a prime example of an accelerator driving an organization forward,” says Chad Moller, FCCS President and CEO.

FCCS has also named four honorees to the Accelerator of the Year Circle of Excellence in recognition of the strength of their nominations and their contributions to accelerating their organizations:

Jesika Harper, Vice President-AgVision with AgWest

Kyle Jordan, Enterprise Risk Portfolio Analytics Manager with Capital Farm Credit

Bryan Stanek, Managing Director New Markets with Compeer Financial

Jenni Mora Velazquez, Director of Rural 1st Operations with Rural 1st/Farm Credit Mid-America

This is the Accelerator of the Year Award’s fifth year. The award is open to contributors and leaders at every level who accelerate their organization’s success. FCCS will begin accepting nominations for the 2025 Accelerator of the Year in October.
