We’re excited to welcome Ryan Gibson to FCCS as our new Cyber Risk Director within the Risk Management and Insurance Services (RMIS) team, a role that further strengthens our commitment to helping Farm Credit institutions navigate today’s evolving cyber risk landscape with confidence.
Ryan brings a rare combination of deep technical expertise, real-world incident experience, and strategic perspective, all of which directly translates to the challenges and risks facing Farm Credit today.
A Career Built in High-Stakes Cyber Environments
Ryan’s cybersecurity career began in the U.S. Navy, where he developed a strong foundation in security controls, vulnerability and patch management, and rigorous accreditation processes. Working in a highly regulated military environment gave him firsthand experience managing risk under strict standards—an approach that continues to shape his disciplined, methodical perspective.
He later transitioned into the civilian sector, holding increasingly technical roles across industry and consulting, including several years at Qualcomm, a Fortune 50 global technology leader. There, Ryan worked on the front lines of cybersecurity, defending critical intellectual property from nation-state attacks through advanced threat hunting, forensics, and vulnerability management. He went on to serve in key roles at Cylance and BlackBerry, and later at Deloitte, where he helped protect enterprise systems and coordinate security controls and compliance efforts across global organizations.
Simply put, Ryan has “run the full cybersecurity gamut,” from hands-on technical response to enterprise-wide coordination and governance.
Strengthening Cyber Resilience Across the Farm Credit System
What drew Ryan to FCCS is the opportunity to apply that experience in a way that’s both strategic and meaningful, helping Farm Credit institutions strengthen their cyber resilience in a practical, risk-informed way.
In his role as Cyber Risk Director, Ryan is focused on:
Helping institutions better understand and manage cyber risk—not just from a technical standpoint, but from a governance and business-impact perspective
Supporting RMIS stakeholders with insight shaped by real-world attacks, not just theory
Contributing to a consistent, forward-looking approach to cybersecurity across the Farm Credit System
Ryan is especially excited to be part of a team that values collaboration, education, and long-term resilience, and to help shape how cybersecurity is approached across the System moving forward.
What This Means for Farm Credit Institutions
Cyber risk continues to be one of the most complex and fast-moving challenges facing Farm Credit institutions today. Ryan’s addition to the team enhances FCCS’s ability to:
Provide credible, experience-driven guidance grounded in real-world threats
Bridge the gap between technical cyber risk and enterprise risk decision-making
Support boards, executives, and leadership teams with clarity and confidence
We’re thrilled to have Ryan on board and look forward to the expertise, leadership, and perspective he brings to FCCS and the Farm Credit community.
Please join us in welcoming Ryan Gibson to the RMIS team.
