Introducing the Organizational Performance & Engagement Assessment

For the past three years, the Farm Credit Employee Engagement Survey has provided valuable insight into the employee experience across participating Farm Credit organizations. As participation has grown, so has our understanding of what this initiative represents and what it can become.

Beginning in 2026, the Farm Credit Employee Engagement Survey will be known as the Organizational Performance & Engagement Assessment.

Why the change?

Because this work has evolved beyond measuring engagement alone.

Over the past several years, participating organizations have used the assessment to gain insight into leadership effectiveness, communication, strategic alignment, workforce stability, recognition, trust, and organizational culture. More importantly, we have been able to identify meaningful human capital metrics that help leaders better understand the conditions that influence organizational performance and long-term success.

One example is burnout. Through partnership with a data scientist, FCCS’s burnout model has been statistically validated, providing organizations with a reliable way to measure employee capacity and burnout risk. This capability allows leaders to move beyond anecdotal concerns and better understand workforce pressures before they become larger organizational challenges.

As the assessment has matured, it has become clear that the value extends far beyond engagement scores. Participating organizations are gaining insight into leading indicators such as:

The new name reflects this broader purpose.

It also recognizes something unique about the Farm Credit System. When organizations participate collectively, the value extends beyond any one association. Together, we create a broader view of organizational trends, strengths, risks, and opportunities across the System.

This is more than a survey. It is a shared intelligence effort grounded in one of our cooperative principles: cooperation among cooperatives.

The Organizational Performance & Engagement Assessment helps participating organizations better understand the organizational conditions that drive performance while contributing to a growing body of intelligence that strengthens the Farm Credit System as a whole.

Although the name has changed, our purpose remains the same: helping Farm Credit leaders make better decisions about their most important asset, their people.
